Which Grok are you using?

• Grok in a browser: start with that browser’s settings for the specific site. A desktop application folder is not a reliable description of browser storage. Removing site data may sign you out; it is not an account-history deletion workflow.
• Official Grok Bot desktop app: current official setup documentation lists a macOS app. Its local data must be identified for your installed version. Do not substitute paths from a similarly named client.
• Other clients: record the exact app name, developer, version and download source. GrokDesk, GrokDesktop and other names in a cleanup rule are not proof of official affiliation or interchangeable storage.

A five-step storage check that does not delete files

1. Open the app’s About information or identify the browser and site you actually use. Record the version before following any path guide.
2. Save current work and quit the desktop client before reviewing files. If troubleshooting a failure, preserve logs for support.
3. For a desktop client, use Finder’s Go to Folder to inspect ~/Library/Caches/ and ~/Library/Application Support/. These are inspection starting points, not folders to erase. Use Get Info to compare sizes.
4. Match any candidate to the actual installed client. A familiar name alone is insufficient. Leave databases, account files, projects and unknown items untouched.
5. If a vendor documents a reset for your version, back up necessary data and follow that exact procedure. Without that evidence, stop after measuring and identifying files.

What should stay out of a cache cleanup?

Keep conversation stores, credentials, settings, working directories, attachments you need and databases. Do not delete an entire Application Support folder or run a recursive removal command copied from a guide for another client.
